CELSUS, INC. INCORPORATED INTIMAX CORPORATION TO FOCUS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTIMATAN. 01/22/1999 - Intimatan is a complex carbohydrate composed primarily of the sodium salt of repeated L-iduronic acid -> 4, 6-O-disulfated N-acetyl-D-galactosamine disaccharide units. Intimatan inhibits surface-bound thrombin by specific activation of heparin cofactor II. The potent and sustained inhibition of surface-bound thrombin by Intimatan is achieved at doses that result in minimal systemic anticoagulation thus minimizing bleeding.
