03/04/1997 - Celsus, Inc. (Cincinnati OH) and Consolidated Nutrition L.C. (Kansas City MO) were awarded U.S. Patent 5,607,840 to recover from mammalian tissue having an endothelial component both an edible protein hydrolysate and heparin-like glycosaminoglycans.

The method may help avoid the current practice of disposing as waste of toxic, high-BOD, heparin production sidestreams.
